"Monique has caught the spirit of the city in the threads of a giant tapestry" - Pasadena Star-News, July 12, 1982. When Monique won a contest to weave this tapestry for Coast Savings & Loan, she lived in a tiny apartment. The bank offered her its mezzanine floor as a studio and customers flocked everyday to watch the work in progress. During the year of her work, she taught hundreds of visitors the tapestry technique. The artwork was made in three pieces on twelve-foot wide frame looms, and then sewn together. The two side pieces were completed first. In the Star-News interview, Monique said, "I want the ends to be balanced, and the center outstanding."

The massive work, woven out of hundreds of individually dyed threads, represents major landmarks of the City of Pasadena. It depicts such famous sites as the Rose Bowl, Wrigley Mansion, Gamble House, Green Street Hotel, Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Colorado Bridge, and Museum of History. When Coast Savings & Loan changed its location, it donated the tapestry to the new $18-million Pasadena City College Community Education Center. You can view the tapestry at 3035 Foothill Blvd in the City of Pasadena.
