St Francis felt the goodness of God in nature and found the divine perfection in all creatures.

In the main panel of the tapestry St. Francis is praying under the blooming tree, surrounded by birds. The kneeling saint looks humble and gentle. His bare feet touch the ground without leaving any shade. The expression of his face is happy but concerned, he is a well educated man with simple message of love and peace.

The triptych's left panel shows St.. Francis praying in the plain below the city Assisi where he was born. The right pannel shows St. Francis putting Jesus into the crib. In 1223 the Saint had an idea of celebrating the Nativity by creating the scenes from Bethlehem on Christmas.

The tapestry is woven in traditional gobelin manner. The structure of the tapestry the warp is horizontal. The hand dyed weft covers the warp. The tapestry was woven by Monique Lehman sidewise. Monique created the design after studing St. Francis live and all available pictorial representations of him made in over 700 years. The tapestry measuring 9'×3.5' was made in Monique's Pasadena studio, it took six months to weave this artwork.
